Medieval Knights on Horseback Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness Links

This page contains links to sites dealing with liberty and consitutional republican government, such as we are losing in America; the historical and modern political climate in America; government watchdog sites; offical government sites such as the Library of Congress’ Legislative Information, and more.

Election 2000
Keep up on the latest news of the nominees and the campaigns, and how it affects the issues closest to a homeschooler’s heart.

American Vision
Gary DeMar’s organization “is dedicated to the restoration of America’s biblical foundation. Our goal is to help Christians think biblically. Right thinking precedes right action. Our mission therefore is to supply Christians of all denominations the spiritual and educational tools they need to become comprehensive, biblical thinkers. As individual lives are transformed by the power of Jesus Christ, society will also be changed to reflect Christ’s Lordship over all of life.” We use some of their materials in school, and love them.

Constitution Society
“The Constitution Society is a private non-profit organization dedicated to research and public education on the principles of constitutional republican government. It publishes documentation for this purpose, and it is dedicated to everyone who has a stake in constitutional compliance. This organization was founded in response to the growing concern that noncompliance with the U.S. Constitution and most state constitutions is creating a crisis of legitimacy that threatens freedom and civil rights.” There is a wealth of material here to study the framer’s intent in phrases in the Constitution, such as due process, usurpation, and much more; as well as issues, both historical and modern, touching on constitutional noncompliance and constitutional abuses. The online Liberty Library of Constitutional Classics is a must visit, being the works in English that have given rise to the concept of constitutional republican government.

Eagle Forum
Stay informed with Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, which has been a watchdog on government since 1972, first in family issues, then in educational issues, and finally in issues of concern to all Americans still wanting to live in a free republican society under the rule of law as outlined in the Consitution as the framers intended.

Fully Informed Jury Association
“FIJA is a non-profit educational association whose mission is to inform all Americans about their rights, powers and responsibilties when serving as trial jurors. FIJA also seeks to restore the political function of the jury as the final check and balance on the American system of government.” Contrary to what they will tell you in court as a juror, it is our responsibility under the Constitution to judge the constitutionality of laws when persons violating such are brought to trial by jury. Become fully informed.

George Washington’s Farewell Address
Archived at the beautiful Papers of George Washington website, in this speech President Washington predicted many of the problems that we are facing today, unless we follow his cautions outlined in this his final address to Congress given in 1796. It should be required reading for every school child, and certainly every politician employed in state and federal government.

Justice for Jonathan Pollard
Jonathan Pollard worked for the CIA, and prior to the Gulf War passed information concerning the security of Israel to Israel, when it became clear to him that his superiors were purposely supressing information concerning Iraq’s plans to disperse chemical weapons bombs against Israel, even though our nation had signed a treaty with Israel promising to share information with them concerning their security! When he was caught, he was tried and sentenced more harshly than the United States has sentenced spies passing sensitive information to our enemies, even though Jonathan’s actions resulted in the saving of untold Israeli civilian lives during the Gulf War. Get the facts here.

Library of Congress Government Resources
An index of the webpages of every government entity imaginable, including some really useful sites such as the History of Congress, and the White House.

National Review Online
William F. Buckley wrote about the National Review: “Let’s face it: Unlike Vienna, it seems altogether possible that did NATIONAL REVIEW not exist, no one would have invented it. The launching of a conservative weekly journal of opinion in a country widely assumed to be a bastion of conservatism at first glance looks like a work of supererogation, rather like publishing a royalist weekly within the walls of Buckingham Palace. It is not that, of course; if NATIONAL REVIEW is superfluous, it is so for very different reasons: It stands athwart history, yelling Stop, at a time when no one is inclined to do so, or to have much patience with those who so urge it.” Read the NR’s mission statement (you’ll be glad you did; it answers the question, Can a mission statement be literary?) and then the rest of this wonderful website.

Primary Source Documents
An invaluable massive collection of historical works which contributed to the formation of American politics, culture, and ideals, and which were the most relevant to the colonists’ lives in America. The documents are arranged in chronological sequence from 500 B.C. to 1800 A.D., and many of them are only available at this internet location. This site is one of those unrecognized but valuable sites on the interent that makes the argument for the worthwhile existence of the internet.

Rutherford Institute
The Rutherford Institute is an international legal and educational organization dedicated to preserving human rights and defending civil liberties. It is deeply committed to protecting the constitutional freedoms of every American, especially in the areas of students’ rights to obtain a public education in a safe and non-coercive setting, women’s rights to be free from harassment and discrimination, the rights of parents to direct the upbringing of their children, the right to life of the unborn from genetic experiments and death, and other human rights and civil liberties issues.

U.S. Legislative Branch
A Library of Congress site, with information about every aspect of Congress, a searchable database of current legislation, e-mail addresses of our Congressmen and Senators, and more.

World Magazine on the Web
World Magazine is a sharp, full-color news weekly like Time or Newsweek, but from a Christian perspective. Highly recommended.

WorldNetDaily: A Free Press for a Free People
WorldNetDaily.com is a daily internet newspaper that still believes the central role of a free press in a free society is to serve as a watchdog on government. Today, unfortunately, many news people see their primary role as facilitating the expansion of government into every aspect of our lives. That’s why being truly informed today--even in this so-called “information age”--is such a challenge. WorldNetDaily.com makes it easy to find the real news; not just what the establishment media elite wants to spoon-feed us.
